Luofu Mountain Hot Spring Resort is the core area of tourism development in Anzhou District and also part of the Sichuan Mianyang Bioherm National Geopark. It was awarded the title of the second batch of National Geoparks by the Ministry of Land and Resources in 2001, and was recognized as one of the first provincial-level tourist resorts in Sichuan Province in 2012. The resort is situated in Sangzao Town, Anzhou District, Mianyang City, adjacent to the Beichuan earthquake ruins and the new county town. It is 34 kilometers from Mianyang and 10 kilometers from Suishui Passenger Station on the Chengdu-Lanzhou Railway, boasting well-connected transportation and a highly strategic location. The surrounding area is rich in diverse tourism resources, including primeval forests, hot spring lakes, and stone forest karst caves. It features the country’s only Sponge Bioherm National Geopark, the Baishui Lake National Water Conservancy Scenic Area, the Qianfo Mountain National Forest Park, the Luofu Mountain Qiang King City Provincial Scenic Area, as well as the Flying Ming Chan Monastery, a renowned Buddhist site built during the Tang Dynasty. There is also the Qiang King City Cultural Industry Park, a cultural industry demonstration base in Sichuan Province.

The Luofu Mountain Hot Spring Resort covers a total area of approximately 8.5 square kilometers, consisting of the hot spring resort section, the mountainous Qiang King City section, parts of Sangzao Town, and the Xiaoba Tourist Town. Among these, the hot spring water is a major highlight, hailed as “the sacred water of Mount Fu, a unique treasure on earth.” The hot spring water is sourced from depths of 1,500 to 2,000 meters below the surface, with temperatures reaching up to 48°C. It is rich in over 20 types of minerals and trace elements, including metaboric acid, radium, iodine, and strontium. Its chemical components and trace elements with therapeutic value are rare nationwide. Soaking in this hot spring can help lower blood pressure, serum, and cholesterol levels, prevent thrombosis, improve central nervous system function, aid in the recovery and enhancement of digestive and liver functions, and offer special therapeutic and health benefits for various skin conditions, arthritis, rheumatic pain, and cardiovascular diseases. It is an exceptionally rare composite medical and health thermal mineral water in China, and currently the only geothermal mineral water in the country certified by national medical and health authorities. It is comparable to France’s Vichy hot springs.

Since the hot spring was discovered in 1999, Luofu Mountain Hot Spring Resort has, through more than a decade of dedicated development and accumulation, attracted numerous strong groups and companies to invest in its construction. The total investment in basic infrastructure and accommodation facilities within the resort has reached 2 billion yuan. There are currently seven hotels of various grades and star ratings, including Mianzhou Hot Spring Hotel and Fushengyu Resort Village, meeting the consumption needs of tourists at different levels. The resort offers comprehensive functions in “dining, accommodation, recreation, entertainment, therapy, and wellness,” and can accommodate over 5,000 tourists simultaneously, receiving up to 1 million visitors annually. It serves as an ideal destination for medical wellness, leisure vacations, and business meetings.

In recent years, Anzhou District has been accelerating the development of the Luofu Mountain Hot Spring National Tourist Resort, striving to establish Luofu Mountain Hot Spring as a top-tier hot spring tourism resort in Southwest China and a nationally renowned destination for hot spring wellness, leisure, and vacation. Currently, the Luofu Mountain Hot Spring Tourist Resort has been included in the “13th Five-Year Plan for Tourism Industry Development” of both Sichuan Province and Mianyang City. We are fully implementing major tourism investment projects such as the Hot Spring Town project, which involve investments exceeding 100 million yuan. These efforts aim to improve the regional tourism environment, enhance supporting service functions, diversify hot spring product offerings, and establish a brand image that is culturally distinctive, rich in hot spring industry concentration, and known for its unique hot spring water quality in the national hot spring resort market.
