In 2012, the Wagang Octagonal Stone Watchtower was designated as part of the eighth batch of Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the People's Government of Sichuan Province.
Protected area: 200 meters beyond the site boundary.
Construction control zone: 20 meters beyond the protected area.
