Huili Ancient Town is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

Huili Ancient Town is located in the southern part of Liangshan Prefecture, covering a total area of 4,500 square kilometers with a population of over 400,000. It is a cultural ancient town with a history of more than two thousand years and is now recognized as a provincial-level cultural city. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the county town enjoys a mild climate and spring-like weather all year round, earning it the nickname "Little Spring City." It serves as the economic, political, and cultural center

of the county, and is 185 kilometers away from Xichang City.

Huili County was established in the sixth year of the Yuanding era of the Western Han Dynasty (111 BC), boasting a history of 2,117 years to date. The county town is among the first group of provincial-level historical and cultural cities in Sichuan Province. The existing Huili Ancient Town was built in the early Ming Dynasty and has a history of over 600 years. It preserves one well-maintained building from the Yuan to Ming Dynasties and seven from the Qing Dynasty, among which the North Gate of Huili County Town is a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit. The protected and developed area of Huili Ancient Town spans 1.02 square kilometers and follows the principles of “restoring the old as it was, preserving the original appearance, highlighting unique features, and enhancing taste.” The development is carried out through government leadership, market operation, and social participation. The architecture of the ancient town features styles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties while fully reflecting the unique Sichuan-Yunnan cultural characteristics of Huili.

Major attractions in Huili Ancient Town include: the Bell and Drum Tower, located at the crossroads in the town center, built in the 12th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, with a total height of 22 meters. The Bell and Drum Tower is adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, features tall red pillars, intricate openwork

carvings and decorations, exhibits exquisite craftsmanship, boasts an elegant design, and is a magnificent sight.
