Dawo Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Dawo Community in Qinglong Town was the site of the former Yi Huang Factory in Fengjie County. Established in 1951 by a provincial state-owned enterprise, the Yi Huang Factory reached its peak annual production of over 7,000 tons of sulfur, generating tax revenue that accounted for one-third of the county's GDP at the time. However, due to sulfur erosion, the land became increasingly acidified and desertified, and reckless waste discharge led to consecutive crop failures in the factory area... In 2015, the Yi Huang Factory completed its historical mission and was officially shut down under policy directives, marking its exit from the stage of history. After the closure, in an effort to overcome challenges and explore new opportunities, Dawo Community actively implemented measures such as combating desertification and transforming its collective economic development model. Adhering to the path of ecological priority and green development, and with the goal of new urbanization, the community continuously improved infrastructure, expanded construction space, optimized layout, and strived to build a vibrant, modern, healthy, and livable new district. This transformation marked a shift from a “mining area” to a “scenic area.”

Today, the industrial ruins of the Yi Huang Factory and the area’s unique natural scenery attract numerous visitors. In 2017, it was successfully rated as a national 2A-level scenic area. Due to its excellent ecological environment, thriving ecological culture, prosperous eco-industry, and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, it was honored as a “National Ecological Culture Village” in 2018. By 2020, it met the standards of a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
