Qingxigou Scenic Area

Qingxigou Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Qingxigou is located in Caijia Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing, over 60 kilometers from downtown Jiangjin. It is the “twin sister” of the national scenic area Simian Mountain. Covering an area of 52 square kilometers, the scenic area boasts a forest coverage rate of 85%. In addition to its vast forests, it features abundant waterfalls, large lakes, magical wind valleys, stone forests, deep caves, and ancient temples that are thousands of years old.

The scenic area was designated as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area in 2009. It has the following features:

1. Excellent Water Quality. The scenic area centers around the Qingxigou Artificial Lake, with a water storage capacity of 16.38 million cubic meters. The water is clear, unpolluted, and abundant, making it a provincial-level medium-sized reservoir No. 2. The scenery is picturesque.

2. Lush Vegetation. The forest vegetation within the scenic area is well-preserved, with islands standing in the water and surrounded by mountains and rivers, creating a beautiful natural landscape.

3. Unique Mountain Shapes. The mountains in the scenic area feature Danxia landforms, with towering stone pillars. Peculiar rocks such as “Siblings’ Bond” and “Buddha Preaching” are strikingly lifelike.

4. Outstanding Attractions. A 40-meter-high waterfall resembles a dreamy curtain, while calm, mirror-like waters look like a painting. Other attractions such as highland plains, peculiar stone gullies, and the Astonishing Immortal Cave each have their own unique charm.

5. Convenient Transportation. A direct road leads to the scenic area—the Qijiang–Simian Mountain Tourist Ring Road runs through it. With its fresh air, crystal-clear waters, and cool, pleasant climate, Qingxigou is an ideal destination for summer retreats, adventure, sightseeing, and reconnecting with nature.

Local Specialties of Qingxigou: Honey, free-range black pigs, free-range yellow goats, etc. Among plants, there are categories such as coptis and nanmu bamboo, with one place named Coptis Valley.

Hiking: From the Qingxigou Dam down to the valley floor, then through Huanglian Valley and across Deshun Slope, you can reach Bailinhuagai Mountain and Bailin Town. This has become a favorite outdoor destination for hikers in recent years.

Scenic Area Address: Within Caijia Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing

Public Transport: From Chongqing, take a bus from Longtousi, Caiyuanba, or Chenjiaping to Jiangjin Passenger Transport Center, then transfer to the bus bound for Qingxigou (only a few services per day).

Self-Drive Route: From Chongqing’s urban area, take Chengyu Expressway via Chenjiaping—transfer to the outer ring road—exit at Jiangjin Interchange—head toward Simian Mountain (passing through Lishi, Longyin, Caijia, Zhongshan Ancient Town intersection, and Zhongzui)—Qingxigou Intersection—follow the fourth-grade road—arrive at Qingxigou.
