Dayuantong National Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Dayuantong National Forest Park is located in Yongxing Town, Jiangjin District, approximately 60 kilometers from downtown Jiangjin and 118 kilometers from central Chongqing. To the southeast, it faces the national scenic area “Four-sided Mountain” and blends with Zhongshan Ancient Town, to the west it borders Hejiang County in Sichuan Province, and to the north it connects with Jukui Academy in Baishazhen. A highway leads directly to the park’s center—Dayuantong and Shuijingwan. The Lvxi River originates from the Dayuantong scenic area, meandering down through crisscrossing roads into Baishazhen, where it joins the Yangtze River. Covering an area of over 40 square kilometers with an elevation of 1,160 meters, the park features classic Danxia landforms complemented by subtropical evergreen broadleaf forests, forming lush vegetation. Several streams such as Pujia Gully, Chaotianma, and Shaxi Gully flow among the mountains, creating cascading waterfalls and murmuring brooks. At times veiled in misty clouds, at others wrapped in a gossamer veil over elegant peaks, the landscape naturally unfolds into a dynamic, ever-changing scroll of mountain and water scenery.

The park boasts rich animal and plant resources, with a forest coverage rate of 95.4%. It is home to over 1,000 species of vascular plants and more than 150 species of wild animals. Among these, there are over 30 types of key protected plant species including Alsophila spinulosa, Liriodendron chinense, Fokienia hodginsii, and Dipteris conjugata. The man-made forests are dominated by Masson pine, Chinese fir, Taiwan fir, sweet gum, and Koelreuteria paniculata, featuring neat crowns, tall and robust trees. The natural secondary forests, primarily composed of evergreen broadleaf trees, are dense, verdant, colorful, and exuberantly lush. There are also over 10 types of nationally protected vertebrate animals, such as clouded leopards, macaques, forest musk deer, large Indian civets, and Lady Amherst’s pheasants.

The park’s landscapes are highly distinctive. Its deep valleys, layered waterfalls and pools, sheer cliffs, expansive caves, peculiar rocks, and perilous ridges vividly showcase the unique charm of its Danxia landforms. Seven deep valleys, four sides of crimson cliffs, 28 broken cliff ridges, 32 uniquely shaped peaks and cliffs, along with countless bizarre rocks, all bring out the park's distinct Danxia features. Divine Turtle Mountain, Fairy Peak, and Novice Monk Stone come to life, vividly expressing the joys, angers, sorrows, and partings of human life. Dayuantong, with its majestic red cliffs and lofty hanging silver waterfalls, forms a breathtakingly magnificent panorama. Meandering streams, emerald pools, diverse waterfall clusters, and crystal-clear lakes that blend seamlessly with the sky create a series of graceful and otherworldly aquatic landscapes. Especially enchanting is Swan Lake, located upstream of Xuan Tianhe at the top of the park, whose shape resembles a dragon and color is like jade. Some say it is “as beautiful as Heaven Lake, as fairytale-like as Jiuzhaigou”—a praise well deserved. In winter, the snow blankets the mountains in white, transforming the landscape into a world of ice and jade, with trees adorned in crystal branches—a uniquely charming snowy scene that is even more captivating.

Dayuantong: Located in the central part of the park, it hangs high on a cliff and can accommodate hundreds of diners at once. Above it, the waters of Xuan Tian Stream cascade down from the sky with overwhelming momentum, resembling an inverted Milky Way.

Swan Lake: Located upstream of Xuan Tianhe at the top of the park, the ethereal Swan Lake has a shape resembling a dragon and a color like jade, making it truly enchanting. People describe it as “as graceful as Heaven Lake, as magical as Jiuzhaigou.”

Little Huashan: About 2 kilometers ahead from Swan Lake lies the Little Huashan attraction, which includes sights such as Little Huashan, Tianma Stone, Tianma Temple, Hanging Coffins, and Buffalo Back.

Eight Immortals Cave: Located in the central part of the park, it hangs high on a cliff, with a cave area of 200 square meters and a stone fortress gate. The terrain here is extremely steep and rugged.

Shuijingwan: The Shuijingwan attraction is about two kilometers from the mountain gate (Youjiadian), backed by the Confucius Temple and connected to the Daba Temple agritainment area. This site features man-made Chinese fir forests, the Four Turns Waterfall, Golden Immortal Cave, and the Two Forks River Waterfall.
