Jiangjin Yunwuping Scenic Area

Jiangjin Yunwuping Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Yunwuping Scenic Area is situated at the junction of Jiangjin District and Yongchuan District in Chongqing, 30 kilometers from downtown Jiangjin and 13 kilometers from Zhuyang Town. It is the core area of the national AA-level Shisun Mountain Scenic Area and a municipal forest park in Chongqing. The scenic area spans around 2 square kilometers, with an average altitude of about 600 meters and a forest coverage rate exceeding 80%. The average annual temperature is 15°C, and annual rainfall reaches 1,200 mm. Part of the Yunwu Mountain range, Yunwuping offers panoramic views from its observation deck of the adjacent Male and Female Shisun Mountains, allowing visitors to admire their timeless and tragic love story passed down through the centuries. From here, you can also overlook the azure Peacock Lake below. The area features verdant peaks and ridges, lush forests, uniquely shaped rocks, fragrant blossoms, birdsong, and drifting clouds and mist—truly a paradise on earth.

The mountaintop of the scenic area is flat and open, surrounded by steep cliffs on all sides. Due to its strategic location, it has historically been a fiercely contested military stronghold. From the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties up until the early years of the People’s Republic of China, the area was constantly plagued by warfare and banditry. In ancient times, Yunwuping was fortified with high walls to defend against bandits. These walls had four main gates: the Main Gate, Renhe Gate, Lan Gate, and Xiwu Gate. Inside the fortress were streets, shops, private schools, farmsteads, and fertile fields. To this day, remnants such as the ancient fortress walls, gates, ruined structures, Footprint Tomb, Overlord Tomb, and Yunfeng Temple can still be seen guarding the mountain passes.

Today, Yunwuping has become a popular destination for tourists seeking sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, dining, accommodation, fruit picking, and fishing. The scenic area includes a 200-acre organic red-flesh kiwi fruit demonstration zone where visitors can relax and pick fruit, as well as an ecological fishpond available for angling. A 4-kilometer-long “Yunwu Great Wall,” built in the style of ancient fortress walls, encircles the entire scenic area. Nature’s artistry is on full display with vivid rock formations such as Crocodile Rock, Monkey King Rock, Turtle Rock, and Eagle Rock. Scenic spots like Peacock Platform, Male and Female Shisun Mountains, Mother Earth, Magpie Bridge, Love at First Sight, Everlasting Union, Vows of Love, Heaven-Linking Bridge, Immortal Gathering Tower, Cloud Friend Bridge, Sunset Friendship Platform, Purple Cloud Platform, Yunwuping Sunrise, Jade Dew Well, Overlord Tomb, Footprint Tomb, and the ruins of Yunfeng Temple captivate and enchant all who visit.

Centered around the three major themes of “Love Mountain, Love Fruit, and Love Flowers,” the scenic area hosts an annual “Qixi Tourism and Culture Festival & Kiwi Fruit Picking Festival.” This event celebrates the magical and romantic culture of the “Love Mountain,” showcases premium “Love Fruits,” and allows visitors to admire the breathtaking beauty of the “Love Flowers”...
