The Taoist statues at Chaoyuan Temple are located in Simianshan Town, Jiangjin City, and include Chaoyuan Temple, dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

Deep within the forests of Simianshan in Jiangjin District, Chongqing, lies an ancient Taoist temple over a thousand years old—Chaoyuan Temple (also known as Chaoyuan Guan). In the 1990s, Mr. Wang Jiayou from the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Cultural History wrote an article titled "Chaoyuan Temple in Jiangjin County," which was the first to introduce this significant cultural relic to the academic community. The article provided preliminary research on its cliff carvings, stone inscriptions, couplets, and historical figures, highlighting the temple’s important cultural and historical value. More than twenty years later, despite years of natural decay and human abandonment, the temple remains hidden in the deep mountains. Its gradually eroding altars, stone walls, and statues are still shrouded in mystery, quietly telling the once-flourishing history of Taoism in eastern Sichuan through the remaining stone relics.

In 2000, the Taoist statues at Chaoyuan Temple were listed in the first group of Chongqing Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.
