Lixiang Lake Wetland Ecological Park

Lixiang Lake Wetland Ecological Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national wetland park.

Lixiang Lake features beautiful mountains and clear waters, with pristine and tranquil water quality, numerous bays, and a winding shoreline (totaling 65 kilometers in length). There are 38 developable peninsulas and one lake-centered island (Wooden Fish Island). The area has well-developed infrastructure, pleasant scenery, and a favorable climate, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism, leisure vacations, and health and wellness. Nearby are national scenic spots such as Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain, Wulong Fairy Mountain, Wansheng Stone Forest, and Banan East Hot Springs. It is the highest-altitude, coolest-temperature, most densely vegetated, clearest-watered, and largest high-mountain artificial lake within Chongqing’s one-hour economic circle that remains largely undeveloped.

Also known as: Tuxi Reservoir. Construction began in 1958, with dam reinforcement in 1973, and completion in 1976. It is a medium-sized national reservoir, designed to store 17.8 million m³ of water, with a perennial storage capacity of 12.6 million m³. The catchment area covers 18.43 square kilometers, with a water surface area of 3,348 mu. The designed irrigation area is 28,000 mu, the effective irrigation area is 23,800 mu, and the guaranteed irrigation area is 16,000 mu. The reservoir primarily serves agricultural irrigation and flood control for areas including Daguan, Baisha, Taipingchang, and parts of Tuxi, generating an annual flood control benefit of 80 million yuan. The reservoir is located in the core area of Nanchuan's northern ecological agriculture park, at an elevation of 800 meters. It is 59 kilometers from downtown Chongqing (via highway), 28 kilometers from Nanchuan city center (via highway), and can be directly accessed via the Daguang exit on the Chongqing-Hunan Expressway.
