Tongnan Dongsheng Tea Mountain Agricultural Sightseeing Park

Situated about 8 kilometers east of Tongnan County in Chashuwan, Litai Village, Zitong Town, the park can be reached via a small dirt road in around 10 minutes by car. Established in 1998, it is based on the 10,000-mu tea base managed by the Tongnan Tea Co., Ltd. The site has a gently rolling low hill landscape with relatively flat terrain; it enjoys a subtropical humid monsoon climate with distinct seasons, hot summers, and cold winters. The 1.5 million cubic meter-capacity Cangliang Lake is situated within the park. The area consists of four parts: the tea base, tea research institute, tea processing factory, and Cangliang Lake.

Tea Base: The park’s tea base includes 5,000 mu of contiguous tea plantations and 300 mu of jasmine flower fields. The tea plantations mainly consist of Fuyun No. 6 and Fuding series tea trees, featuring a variety of types including both small and medium leaf varieties as well as large leaf varieties, suitable for producing high-grade green tea. The tea plantation is crisscrossed with quaint stone-paved paths, and various rest pavilions provide ideal spots for leisure and recreation.

Tea Research Institute: Staff here specialize in tea research and development. The institute’s “Baimao Hou” (White Hair Monkey) and “Yinya” (Silver Sprout) teas have been awarded the title of Chongqing Municipal Famous Brand Products, while “Yinfeng Brand” tea has been recognized as a Chongqing Consumer Satisfaction Product. Visitors can enjoy exquisite tea ceremonies, learn about Chinese tea culture, and understand the principles of harmony, tranquility, joy, and authenticity in the Way of Tea.

Tea Processing Factory: The factory covers an area of about 1,000 square meters. Inside, visitors can observe the three main steps of tea production: fixation, rolling, and drying. They can also learn the five-step method of tea identification: observing dry tea leaves, smelling the aroma, examining the liquor color, tasting the flavor, and inspecting the tea leaves at the bottom.

Cangliang Lake: Built between 1965 and 1975 in response to Chairman Mao’s call to “dig deep tunnels, store ample grain, and never seek hegemony,” local farmers spent ten years constructing this reservoir. With a depth of 30 meters, the lake covers over 300 mu of water surface and holds 1.3 million cubic meters of water, stretching across 19 bays and 15 slopes. Visitors can go boating or fishing on the lake. The surrounding shore is densely covered with lush evergreen trees, and the area is bordered by fertile farmland, offering fresh and clean air.

The sightseeing park is adjacent to the Yang Angong Mausoleum, the - Mausoleum, the Dafo Temple, the Shuangjiang Historical and Cultural Town, and the San Kuai Shi Artificial Canal. The agricultural sightseeing park integrates agricultural tourism, science education, leisure, fitness, and entertainment. It serves as a Chongqing Municipal Agricultural Science Demonstration Park and a Tongnan Science Education Base, and was named a National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site in 2004.
