The Chen Tuan's Hometown · Chongkan Flower Sea Scenic Area is located in Chongkan Town, Tongnan, 30 kilometers from downtown Tongnan. Chongkan Town was established in the third year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (583 AD). In 616 AD, Longkan Town was elevated to Longkan County, with its county seat at Shijia Dam in Wazibao (now Dawu Village). In 712 AD, to avoid the naming taboo of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Longji, it was renamed Chongkan County. In 967 AD, Chongkan County was downgraded to Chongkan Town, and during the Republican era, it was also known as Loukongchang. In 1951, Chongkan Township was established, renamed Guanghui Township in 1967, and in 1993, the township was upgraded to a town, merging Guanghui, Hongxing, and Zhujia townships into one, named Guanghui Town. In July 2000, Guanghui Town reverted to its former name, Chongkan Town, and was recognized as a Chongqing Featured Landscape Tourism Town and a Chongqing Ecotourism Demonstration Town. The Congkan Reservoir Water Conservancy Scenic Area was designated as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area. Xuejia Village in Chongkan Town was awarded the title of "China's Rural Tourism Model Demonstration Village."

Chongkan Town is the hometown of Chen Tuan, a renowned Taoist master of the Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty. It boasts abundant tourism resources, including cultural sites such as the Octagonal Well, Chen Tuan Statue, Taiji Tower, Taiji Ancient Town, Thousand-Buddha Rock, and Jade Buddha Temple.

The Tongnan Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area is located in Chongkan Town, Tongnan District, Chongqing, with the clear Qiong River flowing through it. In Chongkan Town’s Qinggang Village, the scenic area has planted China’s largest rapeseed flower Taiji pattern, with rapeseed as the main backdrop and wheat as the accent, spanning a diameter of 236 meters. In Changshou Village, Chongkan Town, a sailboat pattern measuring 120 meters in length and 80 meters in width has been planted. Around the main venue in Baisha Village, Chongkan Town, an artistic rapeseed wave pattern measuring 160 meters in length and 60 meters in width has been cultivated, featuring a stunning mix of yellow and purple hues, creating a magnificent sea of flowers and showcasing the charm of Chongkan as the hometown of the founder of Taoism. Since 2008, Tongnan District has held eight consecutive Rapeseed Flower Festivals, with 30,000 acres of rapeseed bases presenting a "colorful sea of flowers and golden earth," offering another golden vision of Tongnan. In 2009, the Tongnan Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area was named one of "China’s Most Beautiful Rapeseed Flower Seas." In 2010, it was listed as one of "Chongqing’s Top Ten Spring Tourism Destinations." The Tongnan Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area has earned accolades such as "China’s Most Beautiful Rapeseed Flower Sea" and "Chongqing’s Top Ten Spring Tourism Destinations."

The Tongnan Rose Scenic Area, adjacent to the Chongkan Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area, covers a viewing area of 6,000 acres and features over 30 varieties of roses, including Damask, Fragrant Pure, and Pink Lady. The Tongnan Rose Sea Scenic Area is divided into the "Acquaintance Zone," "Romance Zone," "Commitment Zone," and "Exclusive Love Zone." The scenic area offers a variety of activities: first, visitors can enjoy the rose seas of Damask roses in the Golden Wedding, Silver Wedding, Iron Wedding, and Love Zones on foot or by boat, and pick their favorite roses in the self-picking area. Second, rose bonfire parties are held. Third, visitors can experience the mysterious culture of the rose industry, tour rose processing factories, personally pick fresh roses, and even extract rose essential oil and rose hydrosol. Fourth, visitors can purchase rose-derived products at the scenic area.

The scenic area has nearly 50 farmhouses and inns under the "Tongnan Farmhouse · Flower Sea Home" brand for visitors to dine and stay.

Chen Tuan (871–989), courtesy name Tunan, self-styled Fuyaozi, honored with the titles "Mr. Baiyun" and "Mr. Xiyi." He was a Chinese Taoist thinker, philosopher, internal alchemist, inheritor of Taiji culture, and a forerunner of Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianism.

Born in 871 AD in the Lingshan Guan of Longtai Yi, Chongkan County, Puzhou (now Longxi, Anyue, Sichuan), during the 12th year of the Xiantong era of Emperor Yizong of Tang. In his youth, he studied the classics and histories, mastering the "Book of Songs," "Book of Documents," "Book of Changes," "Book of Rites," and "Spring and Autumn Annals."
