Prince Seng’s Mansion

Prince Seng’s Mansion is a municipal cultural heritage site in Beijing.

Prince Seng’s Mansion is located at No. 77 Chaodou Hutong and Nos. 30–34 Banchang Hutong in Dongcheng District, and is listed as part of the seventh batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Beijing.

It was originally composed of three compounds — east, central, and west — each with four courtyards. The west section currently retains one wide bright main gate, five wing rooms facing the back, three side rooms on the east and west respectively, and five rear enclosing rooms, though the original courtyard layout has been altered. The central section features one wide bright main gate, with a screen wall just inside. The second courtyard still has a double-eaved, interconnected hanging flower gate. The main house has three rooms, each flanked by two wing rooms, with three side rooms on both the east and west, all connected by surrounding corridors in a traditional “hand-washing” layout. This residence serves as an important physical resource for studying the region's geographical changes, the layout of princely mansions, and traditional architecture.
