Haikou Park

Haikou Park is located in the city center of Haikou, Hainan Province. Established in 1954, it covers a total area of 440 acres. The Hainan Liberation Monument stands at the park’s main entrance on Daying Mountain, commemorating the martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives during the long struggle for revolution on Qiong Island and the seaborne assault operations. The park also features a statue of General Feng Baiju and the Feng Baiju Memorial Pavilion. The “Statue of General Feng Baiju” is carved on the highest of five peaks made from 13 granite stones. With a solemn and resolute expression, the statue is remarkably lifelike. The front of the statue base is inscribed with five golden characters reading “General Feng Baiju,” written by [calligrapher's name]. The five peaks symbolize the Wuzhi Mountains, representing Qiong Ya (Hainan Island), as well as the leading core of the Qiongya Party organization. Feng Baiju was the leader of this core — the pillar of Qiong Ya. The memorial pavilion consists of three pavilions and a corridor, seamlessly integrating with the statue in layout. The monument, statue, and pavilion complement one another, adding a solemn and majestic landscape to the park.
