Haikou Qilou Snack Street

Haikou Qilou Snack Street is the only "Hainan-style snack street" in Hainan built by the Haikou Municipal Government under a model of "government support, market-oriented operation, and independent enterprise management." It is also one of the first demonstration units for the city's "Entrepreneurship City (Street, Park)" initiative and a designated "Food Safety Demonstration Street for Catering Services."

On the morning of February 22, 2013, the official awarding ceremony for Haikou Qilou Snack Street as a National 3A-level Tourist Attraction was held. This attraction is the first A-level tourist site in Hainan themed around distinctive culinary snacks and the seventh A-level site in Haikou. It will further enhance the "Explore Hainan, Dine in Haikou" brand and fully leverage Haikou’s role as the central city of the International Tourism Island and the "premier city" of Hainan.

In addition to offering a wide variety of cuisines, Haikou Qilou Snack Street, now a National 3A-level Tourist Attraction, skillfully integrates unique elements of Hainan culture such as "Qilou architecture," "sea salvage art," "Li brocade," "Qiong opera," and "Huanghuali wood." This allows visitors to not only enjoy delicious food but also experience the local snack culture, cultural essence, and historical depth of Hainan.

The snack street stands out with its Nanyang-style Qilou architecture. In the outer square, you can see a grand and intricately carved street-facing archway. Stepping into the inner square, you’ll find U-shaped Qilou buildings that envelop the space, offering a particularly open, comfortable atmosphere filled with a strong sense of Qilou history and culture. Being there feels like stepping back a hundred years to the bustling old streets of Haikou — "Qilou-lined, merchants bustling, and lively with life."
