The Hainan Nongken Museum (Natural Rubber Museum, Hainan Nongken Educated Youth Museum) is a comprehensive industry museum that primarily focuses on the history of Hainan’s state farms, supplemented by themes such as “Hainan Nongken Educated Youth,” “Natural Rubber,” and integrates three distinct yet unified themes.

The museum truthfully records the history of more than half a century of arduous struggle and bold exploration by a heroic collective, mainly represented by demobilized officers and soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army, returned overseas Chinese, educated youth, civilian laborers, and scientific and technical workers. It artistically showcases the miracle created by the Hainan Nongken people in successfully cultivating natural rubber on a large scale north of the 18th parallel and establishing China’s largest natural rubber production base. The red footprints never fade; their passion has forged a green monument.

The museum is located in Haikou City, Hainan Province, with an exhibition area of 3,800 square meters. It features nine exhibition halls: the Preface Hall, Monument Ode, Military Farming Chronicles, Loyal Hearts, Educated Youth Sentiments, Hainan Nongken Spirit, Reform Tide, Care Chapter, and Science Popularization Window. Since its opening in January 2011, it has welcomed over a hundred thousand visitors from within and outside the province, as well as from both domestic and international locations, receiving widespread acclaim. Its rich collection includes tools used in the production and daily life during the pioneering period of China’s natural rubber industry, cultural relics that testify to the history of Hainan’s state farms, and artifacts that comprehensively reflect the footprints of New China’s founding leaders and generals, as well as the demeanor and moral character of the Hainan Nongken people. These precious cultural relics and historical images greatly enrich the exhibitions and enhance their narrative depth.
