Mission Hills Hainan Huayi Brothers Feng Xiaogang Movie Town, the world’s first large-scale movie-themed destination named after a renowned director, integrates live-action tourism, physical commerce, and film production. It showcases the evolving streetscapes of Chinese cities over the past century.

The Movie Town features 1942 Style Street, Old Beijing Style Street, Nanyang Style Street, Church Square Area, a garden landscape area showcasing classic scenes from Feng Xiaogang’s New Year films, the Stars Avenue of Filmmakers, as well as studios and supporting service areas that include the world’s largest 8,000㎡ film production base.

Drawing inspiration from iconic scenes in Feng Xiaogang’s classic films such as “1942,” “Aftershock,” and “If You Are the One,” the Movie Town creates a comprehensive entertainment and commercial district. It presents the street culture of Chinese cities across a full century, vividly reflecting the evolution of 20th-century Chinese urban architecture. These streets, designed with architectural styles reminiscent of Feng’s film sets, will host diverse brands and experiences including food and beverage outlets, entertainment venues, cinemas, coffee shops, boutiques, and boutique hotels. With unforgettable cinematic settings, a strong nostalgic atmosphere, and a tourism and commercial district that transitions from day to night, the entire project encapsulates a century of transformation in Chinese cityscapes—merging architectural tourism, film tourism, and commercial tourism.

Feng Xiaogang, born in 1958 in Beijing with ancestral roots in Xiangtan, Hunan, is a Chinese film director, screenwriter, and actor. His works are known for their Beijing-flavored comedy style, and he specializes in commercial films.

In 1977, he worked in the propaganda troupe of the 6th Tank Division of the 38th Army, and officially joined the military in 1978. In 1985, he was transferred to the Beijing Television Art Center as an art designer, and later joined the Shanghai Film Festival through an introduction by his good friend and collaborator Ge You, thus officially beginning his film career.
