The Jurenfang community is located in Haikou’s old town area. Its streets consist of winding alleys that are narrow and elongated, some so small that only one person can walk through at a time. However, every alley is very clean, with almost no litter in sight. After years of efforts to improve sanitation, Haikou included “environmental hygiene and civility” as a key focus during the 2013 Urban Management Year. The urban sanitation environment has indeed undergone significant changes, but there are still some areas and corners in certain communities that remain less than satisfactory.
