Hainan Foguang Sarira Museum is a privately-run museum that plans to exhibit sariras on a long-term basis. Since its opening on December 27, 2014, the Hainan Foguang Sarira Museum has welcomed thousands of visitors.

First-ever Sarira Museum Opens

Walking along the faintly fragrant Fuxing City Incense Street, at the end you will see a building designed in classical Chinese style — this is the Hainan Foguang Sarira Museum, the world’s only fixed-location museum exclusively dedicated to the exhibition of sariras.

Sariras may be familiar to many by name, often thought to be formed from bones. However, the sariras exhibited here include bone sariras, flesh sariras, brain sariras, blood sariras, and even saliva sariras — a wide variety that many have never heard of or seen before.

Hainan Foguang Sarira Museum is a privately-run museum that plans to exhibit sariras on a long-term basis. It currently houses over 200 exhibits, with more than 80 sarira relics on display. The museum plans to rotate some of the exhibits every six months and also hosts cultural and art exhibitions related to Buddhist cultural relics from time to time.
