Former Site of the Cangxi Farmers' Association

The Former Site of the Cangxi Farmers' Association is located in Cangxi Village, Chengxi Town, Longhua District, Haikou City.

In June 1926, Communist Party members Ke Jiayu, Wu Qianxiu, and Yan Xianmo successively came to Cangdong and Cangxi to carry out Party organizational development work.

In February 1927, the Cangxi Village Party Branch was officially established. Under the guidance of the Party Branch, in April of the same year, the Cangxi Farmers' Association was organized, along with the subsequent establishment of the Young Pioneers, Children's Corps, Women’s Association, and Farmers’ Night School. The Cangxi Village Party Branch used these platforms to promote the Party’s policies and principles among the farmers, instill revolutionary ideals, and teach cultural knowledge.

During the Anti-Japanese War, under the mobilization and leadership of the Cangxi Village Party Branch, young people from Cangxi Village and nearby villages joined the resistance. While continuously strengthening and expanding its own organizational forces, the Cangxi Village Party Branch actively led the people in revolutionary struggles against Japanese invaders. The Cangxi Village Party Branch not only supplied large amounts of food and materials to the anti-Japanese troops but also mobilized young villagers to enlist and fight, effectively striking against the Japanese puppet forces that controlled the suburbs of Haikou, making a positive contribution to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.

During the Liberation War, the Cangxi Village Party Branch actively participated in the campaign against the civil war, organizing people to print, distribute, and post leaflets and slogans, and exposing the Kuomintang’s plot to tear up the peace negotiation agreement and launch the civil war. The Cangxi Village Party Branch also accurately gathered intelligence on the internal workings of the Kuomintang and promptly reported this information to higher-level Party organizations, providing accurate enemy intelligence for the liberation forces’ seaborne operations.

Cangxi Village: Introduction to Cangxi Village

Cangxi Village is located southwest of Chengxi Town, Longhua District, about 12 kilometers from the city center. It sits at the intersection of the Freight Avenue and the Port Road, bordered by Cangyi Road to the east, the Haikou–Yulin Middle Route to the west, Longqiao Town to the south, and Baishuitang Road to the north. The village covers an area of 9.67 square kilometers. It has one economic cooperative and ten villager groups. During the revolutionary war years, a total of 22 revolutionary martyrs emerged from the village.
