Former Site of Guangxi Provincial Art Gallery

The former site of the Guangxi Provincial Art Gallery is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Guangxi Provincial Art Gallery was built during the War of Resistance against Japan. Known as "China's first great theater architecture," this building once witnessed numerous cultural figures earnestly awakening the public’s still-slumbering souls, fighting and shouting for the dignity of the nation, and demonstrating the cultural responsibility of Chinese dramatists in resisting Japan and saving the country. Its important role in the national wartime culture has always been remembered by later generations. Today, it continues to serve as a vital “grand stage” for high-quality cultural and artistic performances, and has become a new landmark of “cultural Guilin.” In October 2019, the former site of the Guangxi Provincial Art Gallery was listed as part of the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
