The Memorial Hall of the Xiangjiang River Battle during the Long March of the Red Army is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Memorial Hall of the Xiangjiang River Battle during the Long March of the Red Army is located in Jiaoshanpu, Caiwan Town, Quanzhou County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The state has built a series of commemorative facilities at Jiaoshanpu in Quanzhou County, Guangxi, where the Red Army fought, as a tribute to the spirits of the thousands of Red Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives in this area.

The Xiangjiang River Battle was the most tragic engagement during the Long March of the Central Red Army and was crucial to its survival. After the battle, the hills of northern Guangxi were strewn with the remains of Red Army soldiers. Local residents risked their lives to bury them. Over the decades, as rain eroded the earth, unidentified remains of Red Army soldiers were discovered in areas such as Lianghe Town and Jiantang Town in Quanzhou County. The Quanzhou County Party Committee and County Government attached great importance to the matter, and with the active cooperation of local residents, the remains were properly buried on-site, registered, and marked. The county also launched a comprehensive effort to locate, collect, and protect the remains of Red Army martyrs throughout the region.

In November 2018, General Secretary Xi Jinping issued an important directive regarding the proper collection, protection, and memorialization of the remains of Red Army soldiers who died in the Xiangjiang River Battle. He emphasized the need to respectfully collect the remains and, adhering to the principles of simplicity and frugality without extravagant construction, to build appropriate commemorative facilities as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. With strong support and promotion from the central government, the autonomous region, Guilin Municipality, and various levels of party committees, governments, and departments, the grateful people of Quanzhou united in effort. All participating construction units collaborated closely to overcome challenges, and the Xiangjiang River Battle Memorial Park project of the Long March of the Red Army was successfully completed on August 25, 2019.

The memorial park mainly consists of the memorial hall area and the memorial forest area.

The memorial hall has three floors, with its exhibition content divided into seven sections. Through a large number of precious photographs and artifacts, it presents a panoramic view of the Red Army’s arduous and glorious journey, vividly showcasing the great spirit of the Long March. Among these, the second major section, “Bloody Battle at Xiangjiang—Breaking Through the Encirclement,” uses modern audiovisual, lighting, and 3D digital technologies along with scene reconstructions. Combined with historical photos, cultural relics, artworks, and crafts, it blends dynamic and static displays. With the Xiangjiang River Battle as the central theme, it recreates the course of the battle and highlights its tragic intensity.

Opening Hours

Closed every Monday except public holidays; open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year. Specific opening hours are subject to the actual situation on the day of visit.
