Rainbow Drinking Bridge is located to the west of Longshui Village, Longshui Town, Quanzhou County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a covered bridge. Spanning the Wanshang River, it was first built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. The entire bridge features a wooden, tile, brick, and stone structure, consisting of four parts: the bridge body, bridge pavilion, bridge piers, and bridge walls. The bridge is 70 meters long, 4.2 meters wide, and 7 meters high. The pavilion covers the corridor, with winding railings, and in the middle there is a two-story tower with flying eaves, featuring exquisite carvings. The ancient bridge is situated near Changzhou, where ancient trees grow thickly, especially old willows that provide dense shade. From afar, the autumn waters appear crystal clear, resembling a rainbow drinking immortal nectar. Every autumn, the greenish river water contrasts beautifully with the sparse willows by the bridge and the red leaves of distant mountains. “Autumn Willows by the Rainbow Bridge” is one of the “Eight Scenic Spots” of Longshui. In the past, there was a plaque inscribed with: “Rainbow Drinking Immortal Nectar,” hence the reputation of “Autumn Willows by the Rainbow Bridge.”

This waterside pavilion-style bridge is exquisitely constructed with highly refined craftsmanship. Below the bridge are five fish-mouth-shaped piers made of bluestone, while above are pavilions and corridors covered with green tiles. Both sides are equipped with railings and seating, with additional windbreak eaves and pavilions built outside the railings. In the center stands a 7-meter-high four-cornered canopy with upturned eaves, blending elegance within grandeur. Beneath the bridge, a curved embankment forms a pool of deep emerald water. Graceful willows by the bridge, clear and lovely river water, and the interplay of tree shadows and ripples give the ancient and simple Rainbow Drinking Bridge a uniquely charming appeal.

It was on this delicate and graceful Rainbow Drinking Bridge that the Red Seventh Army once crossed on their way to Quanzhou. Faintly, one can almost still hear the sound of their footsteps treading the bridge.
