Bodhisattva Water Rock Cave

Bodhisattva Water Rock Cave is the most unique underground river cave in Yangshuo, featuring the most typical and pristine karst landform.

The cave spans three mountains, divided into upper and lower levels, with a total length of three kilometers. The paths inside are winding and secluded, requiring visitors to squat, step over, climb, or even crawl in many areas. The cave branches into a right fork with both water and dry sections, and a left fork that is entirely dry. It is filled with spectacular stalactites in countless shapes, leaving visitors in awe.

The left dry cave branch remains in its original state, offering an adventurous experience with its unique rock formations.

Mud Bath in the Water Cave

The right fork is the water cave. Due to the underground river and karst terrain, it features a mud pool measuring 180 meters long and 150 meters wide, formed by the seepage of mineral-rich mud over millennia. The mud is knee-deep, slippery and viscous like glue, and packed with beneficial minerals. Applying it to your body provides a cool, soft, and soothing sensation that helps relieve fatigue and ailments. Americans who have visited call it a “natural baptism,” while the British describe it as diving into an “Oriental embrace.” Most visitors to this nearly untouched water cave choose to experience the thrilling mud bath.

The mud bath also offers skincare and cosmetic benefits, with its uniquely fine and smooth texture, said to be unmatched anywhere else in the world. Cave adventures and mud baths are available day and night, regardless of weather—visitors are encouraged to try this one-of-a-kind experience.

Mud Bath: 128 RMB per person.

Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

Location: Located midway between Yangshuo and Gaotian Town, within Lichun Village in the Moon Hill Scenic Area of Yangshuo.

1. Approximately 8 kilometers from downtown Yangshuo; about a one-hour bike ride.

2. Alternatively, take a small minibus from Yangshuo to Gaotian at 2.5 RMB per person.
