The Yangdi scenic area starts from Guanyan Village in the north and connects to the Xingping area, covering about 18 kilometers of river section. It is the golden stretch of the Li River and the starting point of the essence tour of the Li River. This is a typical mountainous region characterized by "nine parts mountains, half part water, and half part fields," with simple and honest local customs. Major attractions include over twenty sites such as Peach Blossom Fairyland, Langshi Wonderland, Immortal Pushing the Mill, Embroidered Mountain Colorful Cliff, Mandarin Ducks Playing in Water, Seven Sisters Descending to Earth, Screw Mountain, Township Bar Island, and Half-Side Ferry.

To visit Yangdi, you can choose to take a bamboo raft downstream from Yangdi, where winding waters and peculiar peaks are closely connected, offering beautiful scenery. If you have enough stamina, you can also opt to hike from Yangdi to Xingping, strolling leisurely and fully immersing yourself in the beautiful Li River landscape, which is another kind of enjoyment.

Yangdi is the best place to appreciate the misty rain scenery of the Li River, which is a unique highlight of the Li River landscape. In the rain, everything around Yangdi becomes hazy and dreamlike. Beside Langshi Village, there is a group of rocks in the river that resemble undulating waves, hence the name. Boating past Langshi, you’ll see peculiar peaks lining up one after another, forming a canyon. During the misty rainy season, the scenery here is shrouded in clouds and mist, ever-changing and appearing quite magical.

There are two sandbars in the river that look like mandarin ducks playing in water, named Mandarin Duck Shoal, with Gonggu Stone beneath it. The banks of Yangdi are lined with bamboo forests, forming a ten-mile green screen that sways between green mountains, beautiful waters, waterfalls, and shallow shoals, giving people a sense of tranquility, serenity, harmony, and peacefulness. During the dry season, Yangdi serves as the starting point for river tours, bustling with activity and energy, where stillness and motion blend wonderfully.

Located below Mandarin Duck Shoal on the western bank of the Li River. Behind Yangdi Village is a mountain whose two peaks resemble an upside-down “goat’s hoof.” People use its homophonic sound to call this place “Yangdi.”

To the north of the village is Golden Rooster Mountain, resembling a rooster pecking at rice. To the east of the village is White Tiger Mountain, with a waterfall cascading down, scattering silver beads all over the river, giving rise to the saying “Golden Rooster Pecks White Rice.” Ticket Information · Opening Hours

1. You can reach Yangdi Pier from either Yangshuo or Guilin by bus—either by chartered vehicle or regular bus. For example, starting from Guilin, it takes 40 minutes to reach the Yangdi junction, then a 20-minute transfer will get you to Yangdi Town by the Li River. From Yangshuo to Yangdi, it takes about one hour and costs 8 RMB.

2. It takes about 30–40 minutes to walk from Caoping to Yangdi, crossing a ferry (fare 1–2 RMB per person, bargaining required).

3. The distance from Guanyan to Yangdi is about 5 kilometers—you can take a chartered boat or hike, then pass Half-Side Ferry to reach the starting point of the Li River hiking trail—Yangdi.

4. You can also take a Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangdi, covering a total distance of 46 kilometers with a voyage time of 4 hours.
