In the fourth year of the Wude era of the Tang Dynasty (621 AD), Guiyi County was established near Xianggui Village by the Yu Long River. It was abolished in the first year of the Zhenguan era (627 AD). The nearby Xianggui Village (now known as Jiuxian Village) is one of Yangshuo’s renowned villages, having produced numerous notable officials and dignitaries throughout history. Some ancient buildings, remnants of the city wall, and the historic Guiyi Well can still be seen in the village today.
