Yangshuo Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is situated on the south side of West Street, at the northwest foot of Bilian Peak. On November 29, 1921, while overseeing the Northern Expedition, Dr. Sun Yat-sen passed through Yangshuo. He delivered an important speech at the then-county high school (now Yangshuo Town Primary School) and inspected the city’s streets and Shouyang Park (now Yangshuo Park). To commemorate this significant event, local dignitaries and residents raised funds in 1931 to build the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.

Originally a two-story brick-and-wood structure, the building was in disrepair over time. In 1981, the government allocated funds to rebuild it as a three-story reinforced concrete building on the original site. In the same year, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Yangshuo County.

Sun Yat-sen (1866–1925), also known as Wen, courtesy name Zaizhi, art names Jixin and Yixian, childhood name Dixiang, alias Zhongshanqiao, often used the name Zhongshan.
