Old Village Mountain

Despite its steep path, Old Village Mountain still attracts many photography enthusiasts eager to climb it. At just over 300 meters in elevation, the mountain isn’t particularly high but features more than 1,100 steps. After passing through the arched stone gate, you’ll find two iron ladders near the top—climb them to reach the summit. Be sure not to take a wrong turn. From the mountaintop, you can gaze out at the Li River as it curves around the base of the mountain, with tourist boats gliding by and distant peaks stacked in layers, creating an exceptionally beautiful scene.

Especially in the evening, the thousands of acres of alluvial plains known as “Dahebei,” shaped by years of natural forces on the opposite bank, along with the continuous mountain ranges bathed in the sunset’s soft red glow tinged with hints of green, form the famous “Xingping Sunset” highly praised by the renowned painter Xu Beihong.
