Li Mingrui and Yu Zuoyu Memorial Hall

Li Mingrui and Yu Zuoyu Memorial Hall is located in the eastern part of the city. This memorial was built to commemorate the Red Seventh Army as well as Li Mingrui and Yu Zuoyu. Covering a total area of 3,533 square meters with a building area of 810 square meters, it was completed on February 1, 1985. The exhibits include texts, objects, photographs introducing the glorious achievements of the martyrs Li and Yu, as well as inscriptions from leaders of the autonomous region and veterans of the Red Seventh and Eighth Armies dedicated to the memorial. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit at the county level.

The memorial covers an area of 33,000 square meters, with an exhibition area of over 500 square meters. It was built to honor the great achievements of the revolutionary martyrs Li Mingrui and Yu Zuoyu. Construction began in the spring of 1984 and was completed in February of the following year. Zhong Fuxiang, a veteran of the Red Seventh Army and former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of China, inscribed the name of the memorial.

In the center of the memorial square stands a majestic statue of the martyrs of the Baise Uprising, reaching a height of 14 meters. In the middle of the statue is a fluttering red flag, symbolizing the brave struggle of the people of all ethnic groups in Guangxi under the leadership of the Communist Party of China during the Great Revolution, reflecting the indomitable spirit of Li Mingrui, Wei Baqun, the Red Army soldiers, and the Red Guards.

The front of the base of the statue is engraved with 24 large characters: “In memory of comrades Li Mingrui, Wei Baqun, and other martyrs of the Baise Uprising, eternal glory to the revolutionary martyrs!” These were personally inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping on December 11, 1981. The back of the statue base features an inscription erected by the Party Committee and the People's Government of the Autonomous Region, recounting the glorious achievements of the revolutionary martyrs of the Baise Uprising such as Li Mingrui and Wei Baqun, embodying the boundless respect of the people of all ethnic groups in Guangxi for the revolutionary martyrs.

The exhibition hall of the memorial spans over 320 square meters and displays a total of 234 cultural relics, photos, and historical materials. The hall includes exhibition rooms dedicated to the deeds of the two martyrs. The Li Mingrui Martyr Exhibition Room presents the martyr’s short but brilliant revolutionary career in seven sections. The Wei Baqun Martyr Exhibition Room showcases Wei Baqun’s glorious journey from leading the early peasant movement in Guangxi, participating in the Baise Uprising, to persisting in the struggle in the Youjiang Revolutionary Base.

The Li Mingrui and Yu Zuoyu Martyrs Memorial Hall was designated as a Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Patriotic Education Base by the Party Committee and Government of the Autonomous Region in December 1995.
