Former Site of the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC

The former site of the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC is a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC is located at Limingzhuang, north of Wayaotou Park in Beiliu city center.

After the failure of the Guangzhou Uprising on December 11, 1927, and due to severe damage to the Guangxi party organization, the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC (based in Hong Kong) sent Comrade Zhu Xiangang leading Yu Zuoyu and others back to Limingzhuang in Beiliu, using it as their base to organize the rebuilding of the Guangxi party organization.

In early 1928, Comrade Zhu Xiangang held a meeting at Limingzhuang. The main tasks at the time were to restore the Guangxi party organization while also developing movements among peasants, workers, women, and youth. In June, the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC held a meeting in Guixian County, where Comrade Zhu Xiangang was elected as the committee secretary, and continued his work from Limingzhuang.

Through the efforts of Comrades Zhu Xiangang and Yu Zuoyu, significant progress was made in various local peasant movements. Rent and interest reduction struggles were carried out across the five districts of Yulin. In Beiliu, secret Labor-Peasant Associations were organized in Fucheng, Zhuiwei, Niugantang, Jiudaipo, Baimi, Lingdong, and Fulai, with membership growing to over two thousand across the county. In June 1929, after Comrade Zhu Xiangang was arrested and martyred in Yulin, Comrades such as Yu Zuoyu continued the struggle from Limingzhuang. Soon after, Yu Zuoyu moved on to work in Nanning and Longzhou. Huang Jiagu, the Secretary of the Beiliu County CPC Committee, remained at Limingzhuang leading local revolutionary activities. In October 1930, Comrade Huang Jiagu went to Zhumei Village in Yulin to attend a meeting of the Five Districts Executive Committee, planning an uprising across the five districts. However, due to betrayal, he was arrested and martyred. The provincial committee base was then relocated from Limingzhuang.

Limingzhuang was originally built in 1925 and was the home of the then Communist Youth League member Li Yanzhuan. The building faces east and is situated westward. It consists of three main courtyards, along with a gatehouse, watchtower, and surrounding walls. It covers a total area of 2,561.04 square meters, with a construction area of 1,061.04 square meters. The structure features bluestone flooring, blue-tiled roofing, brick-and-wood construction, and a two-story flush-gable roof style.
