Yiling Cave

Yiling Cave is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Yiling Cave Scenic Area centers around Yiling Cave, with karst landforms stretching across dozens of square miles—towering peaks and emerald-green ridges layered in beauty. The renowned poet Guo Moruo visited here in 1963 and wrote: “Peaks rise from the earth, resembling the city of Guilin.” Since its opening in 1975, many events in Guangxi Autonomous Region, such as the Guangxi International Folk Song Festival and the China Golden Eagle TV Awards, have been held here.

Located in Wuming County, about 18 kilometers from the suburbs of Nanning, Yiling Cave is a karst cave. It gets its name from being situated in Yiling Village and is also known as “Gan Gong” (in the Zhuang language), meaning “a cave as beautiful as a palace.”

The cave lies within Liangman Mountain, shaped like a conch shell, 4.5 meters deep, and divided into three levels. With a tour route of over 1,100 meters, every step reveals a unique scene, twisting and turning with endless variations. Geologists estimate it formed around one million years ago.

Eight major scenic zones have been developed inside the cave, featuring more than 100 large and small attractions spread across an area of 24,000 square meters. Columns and draperies overlap, creating a mysterious and enchanting sight. Inside, visitors can admire a variety of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone flowers, and stone curtains. Enhanced by modern lighting and sound effects, they form countless stunningly realistic scenes to stir the imagination—such as a “Golden Phoenix” about to take flight, a “Seaside Fishing Village” with shimmering waves and dotting fishing boats, as well as karst wonders like the “Five-Colored Abundant Harvest Picture” and “Undersea Park.”

The Zhuang cultural corridor in front of Yiling Cave also offers a rich showcase of Zhuang ethnic history and traditions.

Tip: The cave is cool and damp, so bring warm clothing and be prepared with anti-slip measures.

Transportation: Take a bus from Nanning’s Anji Coach Station to Wuming (Nanning–Wuming line) and get off at Yiling Cave.

Yiling Village: Located in the southern part of Shuangqiao Town, Yiling Village is 12 kilometers north of the county seat and 21 kilometers south of the capital city Nanning. It is traversed by the South–Wuming Secondary Highway. Famous sites within the village include Yiling Cave, Xianshan Courtyard, Jiudong Mountain, Jiaquan Scenic Area, and the Conference Center.
