Yingxiong Reservoir

Yingxiong Reservoir is located in the southern part of Yongning District, Nanning City. The dam sits at Nahuapo, Hualian Village Committee, Xinjiang Town, about 15 kilometers from Xinjiang Market. It can be reached via a county road and then a village road leading to the dam site.

The reservoir was constructed in September 1957 and completed the following year, with a total investment of 544,000 yuan. It has a catchment area of 25.03 square kilometers and a total storage capacity of 29.99 million cubic meters, with a designed irrigation area of 500 hectares.

In 2004, the effective irrigation area was 230 hectares, classifying it as a medium-sized reservoir.

The reservoir area boasts a uniquely beautiful environment. A mountain range stretching for dozens of miles forms the “Hero Ridge,” which, when viewed from above, resembles “a golden oriole and a lion swimming together, with two roosters crowing from opposite banks.” The dam is built at the

foot of the “Hero Ridge,” hence the name. The reservoir area features over 300 branches creating a landscape of lakes within lakes, water within mountains, mountains within water, and scenery within scenery—like an ink painting. The reservoir’s thousand-acre orchards of lychee, longan, and other fruit trees complement the vast expanse of blue water and sky. Amidst this lush greenery and clear waters, hundreds of birds such as egrets, wild ducks, and turtle doves play among the trees and chase each other over the water, forming a breathtaking natural ecological scene that captivates the heart and lingers in the memory.

The picturesque Yingxiong Reservoir is a tourism site in Yongning District awaiting further development.
