The Buluotuo Ancestral Site is a Guangxi ethnic culture tourism demonstration site and a county-level key cultural relics protection unit. It is located in Liulian, Baiyu Town, in the eastern part of Tianyang County, Baise City, Guangxi. It is 18 kilometers from Tianyang County seat. In 2002, after investigation and evaluation by relevant experts and scholars, Buluotuo was identified as the humanistic ancestor of the indigenous peoples of the Pearl River Basin. The site is a sacred place commemorating Buluotuo, a base showcasing the Zhuang people’s original ecological culture centered on Buluotuo culture, and a venue for exploring the origins of civilization in the Pearl River Basin. The scenic area was opened to the public in 2004.

Buluotuo is regarded as an all-knowing, all-powerful, and wise elder, deeply revered by the Zhuang people. Since ancient times, during the annual Buluotuo worship days from the 7th to the 9th day of the third lunar month, tens of thousands of people from the local area and surrounding counties and cities gather here to worship Buluotuo, creating the spectacular scene of tens of thousands of incense sticks honoring the ancestral figure.

The scenic area features Mount Gangzhuang, which has dense forests, diverse species, and steep rocks. On the mountain, there are attractions such as the Ancestral Temple, Mother Shrine Rock, General’s Cave, Mandarin Duck Spring, Heaven-Connecting Cave, Sacred Water Pool, and Red Army Cave. The mountain’s foot is broad and flat, featuring sites such as the Ethnic Song Festival Square, Worship Stone, Fengshui Bridge, Twelve Totems of the Zhuang People, and the Mountain Gate. On the days of the song festival, the mountain is filled with incense smoke, while the foothills resound with singing. After worshiping the ancestral figure, people hold mountain song duets, song and dance performances, lion dances, bullfights, and firecracker-snatching competitions at the foot of the mountain to celebrate this grand festival. During the First and Second Revolutionary Civil Wars, Mount Gangzhuang was also one of the sites of revolutionary activity and has become an important revolutionary memorial site in Tianyang County.
