The Nalai Site

The Nalai Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Nalai Site is located on a hillside about 200 meters west of Nalai Village, Xingcheng Village, Tianzhou Town, Tianyang County, covering an area of approximately 5 square kilometers. Discovered in 2003, it is a Paleolithic cultural site dating back about 803,000 years. The site contains an abundance of chipped stone tools and manufacturing fragments, including hand axes, hand picks, choppers, and scrapers. Glass meteorites can also be found at the site, and its highest point features a core area of about 50 square meters where stone artifacts are densely distributed. The Nalai Site holds great significance for inheriting and promoting outstanding national culture, enhancing Tianyang’s cultural soft power, and establishing it as a county rich in cultural heritage.

In 2013, the site was included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
