Chengbi Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Chengbi Lake Tourist Resort is located 7 kilometers northeast of Baise City. It was one of the first batch of provincial-level scenic spots announced by the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 1988. Originally an underground river, it flowed through the towering mountains on the edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau before suddenly bursting forth from the Lanshilin Water Source Cave in Lingyun County. With a total length of 127 kilometers, a water surface area of 39 square kilometers, and a total storage capacity of 1.154 billion cubic meters, it is hailed as the “Daughter of the Sea” and also known as the “Shining Pearl” of western Guangxi. It is one of the major reservoirs in Guangxi. The Chengbi Lake Reservoir is a large-scale water conservancy project primarily used for power generation, featuring a concrete core rock-fill dam. The dam stands 70.4 meters high, is 425 meters long, 6 meters wide at the top, and 465 meters wide at the base. The power station behind the dam has four generating units, with a total installed capacity of 26,000 kilowatts and an average annual power generation of 114 million kilowatt-hours.

The scenic area features the natural landscape of the lake area as its main highlight, comprising nine scenic zones and twenty-seven attractions, including the magical natural Yama Cliff sculpture, Peacock Welcoming Forest, Pine Forest Island, Maple Tree Island, Lovers’ Island, Whale Island, and Fruit Oasis.

The entire lake area boasts quaint islets, lush greenery, crystal-clear waters year-round, meandering bays, captivating cliffside legends, the renowned Guanyin Temple, naturally-formed springs and caves, thrilling rapids and shoals, and combines the charm of mountain countryside with the serenity of a flat lake. It is suitable for vacationing, business travel, and water recreation. The scenic area has successfully hosted various events such as garden parties, island treasure hunts, ethnic song and dance performances, large bonfire evenings, lion dances, acrobatic circuses, and magic shows.

Transportation

1. Take bus No. 7 from downtown.

2. Take a taxi, which costs around 10 yuan.

3. Within the Chengbi Lake scenic area, visitors can take sightseeing boats. Boat seat prices range from 6 to 12 yuan, and chartering a speedboat costs 200 yuan per trip, with a typical tour duration of about 20 minutes.
