00 meters southwest of Helong Village, Qiaogong Township, Xingbin District. Surrounded by rolling peaks and picturesque mountains, the mountain resembles a reclining qilin (a mythical Chinese creature) with its head raised when viewed from afar—hence its name.

On January 14, 1956, experts Jia Lanpo and Wu Rukang from the field research team of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, discovered a fossilized part of a human skull base in the Gaitou Cave (known locally in Zhuang language as Kamtou Cave) on the mountain. Associated animal fossils included deer teeth, pig teeth, and numerous gastropod shells, along with one rough stone tool and two artificially flaked stone flakes. The human skull fossil was named “Qilinshan Man” and is now housed in the Museum of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, while a replica is preserved at the Guangxi Museum. The discovery of Qilinshan human fossils contributes to research on human origins and distribution, indicating that ancient human ancestors once thrived in the land of Xingbin District. According to research, “Qilinshan Man” dates back to approximately 20,000 years ago during the Late Paleolithic Age.

Qilin Mountain has been designated as a cultural relic protection unit of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Qiaogong Town: Qiaogong Township is located in the northwest of Xingbin District, covering a total area of 196 square kilometers. It administers 11 village committees and 60 natural villages, with a population of 36,555.

Qiaogong Township enjoys convenient transportation. The Hongshui River flows through the township, enabling shipping access to Laibin, Heshan, Liuzhou, Wuzhou, and other destinations. Roads provide direct links to Laibin, Liuzhou, and Nanning.

Qiaogong Township is rich in water resources. The Beisan River, which flows into the Hongshui River, runs through the township.
