Longdong Mountain in Laibin

Located about 3 kilometers southwest of the city, near the Laibin Smelter. The mountain is shaped like an upturned bell. On overcast or rainy days, clouds and mist often shroud the mountain, resembling a soaring dragon — hence the name Dragon Cave Mountain.

The mountain boasts many unique caves, all interconnected, with the Sky-Reach Cave leading to the summit. The caves are spacious, cool, and offer tranquil and elegant scenery. A temple was constructed here during the Yuan Dynasty, but it has since been destroyed. However, the inscribed stone tablets and poetic verses left by scholars can still be faintly discerned. One poem praises the site: “It is said the dragon lies in repose; the cliff gate sweeps away worldly haze. Hibernating thunder rumbles through the silent hills, while breath from the stones fills the air with mist. It shows no haste to bring rain to mortals, nor does it stir among drifting clouds. Yet it understands the Dharma, its voice resonant with a single chime.” At the foot of the mountain, the clear waters of Longdong Stream wind around. The vast and lush Longfeng Mountain Forest Farm spreads out as far as the eye can see. From the mountaintop, one can gaze into the distance to take in the new look of the county town, the surrounding mountains, and nearby waters — a panorama of limitless scenery unfolds before you.
