Laibin City Museum

Laibin City Museum was established in August 2011 and officially opened to the public free of charge on May 16, 2015. It is one of the key museums built during Guangxi’s 12th Five-Year Plan period.

There are five permanent exhibition halls in total: the first hall, “Qilin Brings Auspiciousness, Ancient Land New City,” highlights the historical development of Laibin; the second hall, “Turbulent Springs and Autumns,” showcases the city’s revolutionary struggle history; the third hall, “Harmonious and Beautiful Zhuang Village (Part I),” presents aspects of Zhuang ethnic group culture including song and dance, costumes, script, and architecture; the fourth hall, “Harmonious and Beautiful Zhuang Village (Part II),” introduces the cultural elements of ethnic groups such as the Zhuang and Yao; the fifth hall, “Naturally Gifted and Spiritually Enriched,” features notable figures and their works from Laibin.

The museum currently houses over 1,100 cultural relics and displays more than 600 pieces of quality stones, calligraphy, and paintings. It has hosted 14 special exhibitions on calligraphy, painting, and graphic arts. It has now become a research center for Hongshui River culture, Zhuang and Yao cultures, Tusi culture, and central Guangxi culture, fully fulfilling its unique functions of recording history, inheriting civilization, educating the public, and serving society.
