Six-Section Folk Village

Located in Jinxiu Town, Jinxiu County, about 20 kilometers from the county seat and beside the Jinxiu-Xiuren Highway, this folk village is a settlement primarily inhabited by the Chashan Yao ethnic group, with 60 households and a population of 248. The village enjoys superior geographical conditions and beautiful scenery, with rolling mountains to the north creating a picturesque landscape. The village lanes stretch 300 meters in total, and the residences were built between the Daoguang and Guangxu reigns of the Qing Dynasty. The house structures are well-preserved and represent typical Chashan Yao architectural style, including 32 stilted buildings with grey bricks and blue tiles. Many households still retain antique furniture, giving the place an old-world charm and high potential for tourism development. It’s an ideal spot to experience the life and customs of the Yao people.

Rows of lush tea trees form neat contour lines across the hillsides, while a crystal-clear stream runs through the village. Yao girls in traditional costumes, carrying bamboo baskets, deftly pick tea leaves with their nimble fingers. Where is this? This is Liuduan Village.

In the Liuduan Yao Village, you can admire the colorful Yao costumes and the simple yet elegant traditional Yao songs and dances, as well as visit the exquisitely designed embroidery rooms of young Yao women. You can also savor distinctive Yao-style dishes, take part in fun-filled Yao cultural activities such as “Courtyard Courting,” and while immersing yourself in the rich Yao culture of the Dayaoshan Mountains, you can explore pollution-free tea plantations, enjoy tea performances, and participate in tea-picking, tea-making, and tea-tasting experiences to appreciate the artistic charm of tea culture. In addition, ancient tree species left over from the Quaternary Ice Age — including the yew, a rare and endangered natural anti-cancer plant recognized worldwide and a Class I protected plant in China — will surely amaze you.
