Liang Song was a native of Gongzhou (present-day Pingnan, Guangxi). His courtesy names were Zigao and Zhongqiu. His birth and death years are unknown. He became the Zhuangyuan in the first year of the Bailong era (925) of the Southern Han Dynasty during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.

From a young age, Liang Song was diligent and studious, excelling in poetry and prose. Emperor Liu Yan of the Southern Han, emulating the Tang system, initiated the Yiyou Imperial Examination in Guangzhou. During the palace examination, Liang Song composed the poem "Ode to Lychees": "Dew wets rouge cheeks, bright before the eyes; / A thousand red robes hard to paint in guise. / Fair maids savor all the dainties on the plate, / Yet Heaven favors these born beyond the gate. / Oranges and pomelos, less proud to be tribute fare, / Salt and plums should blend in harmony’s rare. / If Golden Gates have plots where talents grow, / I’ll claim the first rank here below." Dapeng Town: Located at the southern foot of the Dayaoshan Mountain Range, Dapeng Town is 43 kilometers from the county seat.
