The main wall of the former residence serves as the boundary. The surrounding exterior walls in the front, back, left, and right constitute the protected area and construction control zone. The control zone is the same as the protected area.

Peng Yuyao (1809–1851), styled Zimu, initially known as Lanwan, also called himself Langshi Shanren, was a native of Pingnan. He passed the imperial examination as a Juren (recommended man) in the 20th year of the Daoguang reign (1840) during the Qing Dynasty. Known for his bold and unconventional character, Peng Yuyao did not follow conventional trends. He loved reading, had broad knowledge, and possessed exceptional talent. His discursive essays were distinctive and incisive. However, he excelled even more in poetry and lyrics, earning recognition from Chi Shengchun, an educational inspector from Yunnan who was part of the Guangxi academic circle, and was invited to serve in his official entourage. He was celebrated as one of the “Ten Masters of Shanhu.” Throughout his life, Peng Yuyao did not accumulate property, and after his death, only a few bookshelves of books remained, leaving behind bare walls.
