Monument to Martyr Lu Weidong

The Monument to Martyr Lu Weidong is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Monument to Martyr Lu Weidong was built in honor of Martyr Lu Weidong. Standing five meters tall and made of granite, its front bears eleven large characters inscribed by Ye Xuanping, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference: “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyr Lu Weidong.” The front of the base is engraved with Lu Weidong’s life story in imitation Song typeface. The monument is surrounded by a three-tiered platform paved with hexagonal cement bricks, measuring 25 meters in length and 20 meters in width. The upper two tiers have no railings, and there are 23 granite steps leading from the base of the platform to the monument. In May 1992, the People's Government of Sanshui County erected the monument. In the same year, the People's Government of Guangdong Province posthumously awarded Lu Weidong the title of Revolutionary Martyr. The Monument to Martyr Lu Weidong is open to the public free of charge year-round.

Lu Weidong (1968–1991) was from Lukeng Village, Nanbian. After graduating from junior high school at Nanbian Town Middle School in July 1983, he worked in agriculture in his hometown. From November 1987 to May 1990, Lu Weidong worked at the Nanbian Town Cement Factory.
