The Sanshui District Museum is a patriotic education base.

The Sanshui District Museum in Foshan was established in 1989 with the approval of the then Sanshui County Government and moved into the Jiyuan Pagoda complex in the Forest Park in October 1995. The museum is located on the left side of the southwest entrance of the Forest Park, covering an area of 75,900 square meters, with the building itself spanning over 3,000 square meters, making it one of the largest county-level museum buildings in the province. The museum houses a total of 2,765 collections.

As the only cultural institution in Sanshui, the Sanshui District Museum is a key force in inheriting and promoting local culture. Since its establishment, it has been committed to building a culturally vibrant district by extensively exploring historical and cultural resources and innovating modern culture. In 1996, it was honored as a “Foshan Civilized Window Unit,” and in 1997, it was designated as a “Patriotic Education Base” by the Sanshui government.

The Sanshui District Museum consists of six exhibition halls. Permanent exhibitions include the “Excavation Achievements of the Sanzhou Shell Mound Site,” “World Currency Exhibition,” “Selected Cultural Relics of Sanshui,” and “Li Lesi Donation Exhibition,” along with various large-scale rotating exhibitions such as the “Exhibition Commemorating the Centennial of Zhou Enlai,” “Exhibition Commemorating the Centennial of Liu Shaoqi,” “Li Xiongcai Fine Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition,” “Guan Shanyue Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition,” and “Earth’s Three Poles Photography Exhibition.” The museum offers a rich and beautiful environment. The Jiyuan Pagoda within the museum stands 68 meters tall, appears to have seven floors from the outside but actually has thirteen, and features 24 embedded reliefs that depict the major events of Sanshui's history from the late Neolithic period to the present—covering around four to five thousand years. The Sanshui District Museum showcases the history of Sanshui and also bears witness to it.

The Sanshui District Museum is a public cultural institution in Sanshui District. It currently has five officially appointed staff members and three non-official quota positions. The museum includes an office, a conservation department, an exhibition department, a public engagement department, and a security department. The office mainly assists the museum director in management and handles administrative and logistical affairs; the conservation department is responsible for the collection, organization, research, appraisal, and preservation of artifacts; the exhibition department plans and implements displays; the public engagement department handles reception, organizes visitors, provides guided tours, and conducts other forms of patriotic education activities; and the security department is responsible for the safety and security of the museum storage areas and surrounding environment.

The Sanshui District Museum enjoys a superior geographical location, adjacent to the national 4A-level tourist attraction “Sanshui Forest Park.” With over 3,000 square meters of floor space, it can accommodate thousands of visitors at the same time. The Sanshui Museum boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage and unique cultural charm, combined with its beautiful environment, making it a highlight of tourism and culture in Sanshui and even Foshan. It receives a continuous stream of visitors every day.
