Nandan Mountain Forest Kingdom is located in Nanshan Town, Sanshui District, known as the "Green Famous Town of China." It borders Qingyuan and Sihui, and is just one and a half hours’ drive from downtown Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and other cities.

Nandan Mountain is a historic mountain rich in Buddhist and Taoist culture. The Kaiyuan Temple and Wanshou Palace within the mountain have both stood for over a thousand years. The selenium-rich soil and cultural richness have made this national longevity township home to the longest-living ecological town.

The resort features the only primeval forest in South China, where ancient trees reach skyward and the rugged mountainscapes create a breathtaking view. With nearly 3,000 species of wildlife, it is truly a "Museum of Subtropical Flora and Fauna."

Designed and planned with the collaboration of international experts such as American explorer Jacobabu, and drawing on outstanding elements from forest tourism projects worldwide, the Nandan Mountain scenic area has been upgraded to include three major zones: Forest Flying, Forest Happy Valley, and Forest Farm. With new projects and experiences, Nandan Mountain has become a true forest kingdom.

Nandan Mountain has a profound historical and cultural heritage. As early as before the Sui and Tang dynasties, Taoist alchemists practiced health-preserving elixir refinement here. By the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty (725 AD), the earliest Buddhist temple in Foshan — Kaiyuan Temple — was built, and the tradition of Zen meditation and wellness has been passed down to this day. Nandan Mountain boasts rich cultural resources, and its unique longevity and wellness culture, leisure culture, traditional Chinese medicine culture, Buddhist culture, Taoist culture, martial arts culture, educated youth culture, and returned overseas Chinese culture have earned it the nickname “Shangri-La of Guangdong.”

The entire valley of Nandan Mountain nurtures countless waterfalls and streams of all sizes, exhaling the pure beauty of nature and flowing with the essence of life. They weave through rugged rocks in the mountain streams and caress the ancient twisted trees. Some cascade down like rivers, suddenly bursting forth from the horizon; others flow gently, quietly telling the stories of the forest.

The mountain spring water gurgles and tinkles, sometimes long, sometimes short, sometimes high, sometimes low, harmonizing with birdsong and the constant whisper of the pine forest, as if performing a symphony of the woods. Standing at the foot of the waterfall, listening to the thunderous roar of the water and touching the greeting from the mountain brings a stirring sensation.

Nandan Mountain is the only tropical rainforest in the Pearl River Delta region, with extremely rich ground vegetation. According to surveys by experts from the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the mountain is home to over 3,000 plant species, including more than 700 medicinal plants and over 20 types of nationally protected plants (Class II and above), such as Alsophila spinulosa and Ilex.

Walking into the mountain is like strolling through a botanical museum. Various epiphytic plants growing on trees, such as ferns, dendrobium, and usnea, can be seen everywhere; the flat bean-like flat bean vines twine around large trees, along with many unnamed small animals and birds, offering a feast for the eyes.

Nandan Mountain Forest Kingdom is one of the few remaining secondary primeval forests in South China. It hosts a diverse range of subtropical plants and hundreds of species of wildlife. Visitors can also experience thrilling forest adventure activities such as canyon zip-lining and treetop canopy bridges.

Nandan Mountain stands at an elevation of about 500 meters, with continuous mountain peaks. Strolling through the valley, you’ll encounter oddly shaped rocks, towering ancient trees, and scenic waterfalls and streams along the way.

In addition to hiking and sightseeing, the area offers a wide variety of recreational activities.

The Forest Sea Zip Line stretches from the mountainside to the base of Nandan Mountain, spanning 600 meters, giving adventurers the thrill of flying solo through the forest. The Canyon Zip Line crosses from the mountaintop to the mountainside, spanning over 300 meters with a 50-meter drop, offering a unique journey through the valleys.

Walking across the Treetop Canopy Bridge provides a magical feeling of strolling through a high-altitude rainforest.

In summer, visitors can also enjoy the cool and thrilling experience of playing in the waterfalls.

The scenic area also offers plenty of dining and accommodation options. The Orchard Farmstead at the entrance serves authentic local cuisine, while the Rainforest Restaurant near the Ziyun Valley entrance offers distinctive Hakka dishes. The Vietnamese restaurant within the scenic area is also very popular.
