Luojirui Site

The Luojirui Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Fengkai County.

The Luojirui Site is situated on the right side of the rock shelter at the cave entrance on the northwest face of an isolated limestone peak about 1 kilometer north of Liandu Town, Fengkai County. It dates back to the transitional period from the Paleolithic Age to the Neolithic Age, also referred to as the Mesolithic Age. The cave entrance is level with the ground outside. The brownish-gray sandy clay deposit contains burnt bones, charcoal fragments, and shells of snails and clams. Over 10 stone artifacts made by percussion flaking have been excavated, including types such as choppers and flakes. Their morphological features are similar to those found at the Huangyan Cave Site in Fengkai. The associated mammalian fauna includes 4 orders and 8 species, all of which are extant. Carbon-14 dating of the snail and clam shells indicates an age of 11,175 years ± 500 years.

In 1979, the Fengkai County Revolutionary Committee designated it as a cultural heritage protection unit.
