Dazao Palace

Dazao Palace is a cultural heritage site of Fengkai County, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

Dazao Palace is located in Malang, Pinggang Village, Pingfeng Town, Fengkai County. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty and reconstructed in the Ming Dynasty, the palace originally had a two-courtyard layout. The front section and the corridors on both sides have been demolished, leaving only the gate tower, the rear hall, and the surrounding walls. The rear hall features a single-eave flush gable roof. It is 12.64 meters wide (across three bays) and 11.68 meters deep (across five bays). The beam framework combines the post-and-lintel and Dougong (bracket arm) styles. The beams are carved into crescent beams. The dougong blocks feature varied designs. The lower surface of the crescent beams is decorated with scroll patterns. The column capitals are subtly carved into disc-shaped bracket arms that support the roof purlins. The column bases are simple in design, using an inverted-bowl style, with a short column (0.49 meters high) erected on top of them. A wooden block 15.5 centimeters thick is placed on the short column. In 1926 (the 15th year of the Republic of China), the Farmers’ Association of the Second District of Fengchuan County and the headquarters of the District Peasant Self-Defense Army were headquartered here.

In 1979, the Fengkai County Revolutionary Committee designated it as a cultural heritage site.

Pinggang Village: The Pinggang Village Committee is located along the Jiangping Line (X432) in Fengkai County, covering an area of approximately 5.1 square kilometers. It administers 19 villager groups with a total population of over 1,400. The village committee is home to a market town (Pinggang Market), which is as well-known for its commerce and trade as the Pingfeng Market town.

The Pinggang Village Committee is 23 kilometers from the county seat and 5 kilometers from the town government. County Road 432 leads directly to Pinggang Village, giving it good geographical advantages.
