Yunfeng Lake Ecological Park

“Yunfeng Lake” is located in the northeastern part of Yuntian Township, Shifeng District, Zhuzhou City, 25 kilometers from downtown Changsha and 15 kilometers from downtown Zhuzhou. Originally named “May 1st Reservoir,” it was built in 1958 as a small Type I reservoir and is a key water conservancy project in Shifeng District. It primarily supplies irrigation for nearly ten thousand acres of farmland and flower bases across more than ten surrounding villages. Surrounded by mountains, Yunfeng Lake covers a total water area of over 1,500 acres with a storage capacity of 5.4 million cubic meters, making it the largest artificial lake in the urban areas of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan tri-city region. The lake’s surface follows the contours of the surrounding hills, naturally forming multiple inlets along the mountain ridges and creating over a dozen peninsulas that jut out from the water. The harmonious blend of mountains and water, along with its intricate layout, makes the lake resemble a miniature version of Qiandao Lake when viewed from above. The area around Yunfeng Lake encompasses tens of thousands of acres of forested land, as well as rich cultural and natural attractions such as Tiger Cave, Zhaizi Mountain, Jiulong Temple, and the Tomb of Anti-Japanese Soldiers. Various legends and historical tales are passed down through both written records and oral tradition. With its picturesque scenery, distinctive features, profound cultural heritage, and being a rare leisure and holiday destination in the heart of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area, it has earned the reputation of being a “natural oxygen bar” and the “lungs of the city.”
