The Yujiayao Scenic Area is located in Xujia Cave Town, Suxian District, about 13 kilometers from the city center. With an elevation of 180.7 meters and covering an area of 0.25 square kilometers, it is the closest and most culturally rich attraction within the Feitian Mountain National Geological Park. According to the "General Annals of Directly-administered Chenzhou," during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era, the settlement was named Yujiayao after the Yu family who lived there.

The mountain stronghold stands beside the Chen River, surrounded by sheer cliffs. Stone carvings such as “Tianfei Mountain” and “Scenic Wonderland” are clearly visible on the cliffs. A single stone-carved path runs through the stronghold from front to back, creating a “one man can hold the pass against ten thousand” defensive position. It is said that both the rebel forces of Huang Chao during the late Tang Dynasty and Hong Xuanjiao of the Taiping Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty once used this strategic pass to launch surprise attacks. Within the stronghold, there is a natural stone pool where spring water flows from a rocky crevice, the splashing water resembling blooming white lotuses. The pool never dries up throughout the year and is historically known as the “White Lotus Pool.” There are also the ruins of the “Tongren Academy,” dating back to the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era. To the north of the stronghold lies a natural stone bridge, over 10 meters high and spanning more than 20 meters, which allows pedestrians overhead and vehicles below, serving as a unique natural gateway to the scenic area.

A town under the jurisdiction of Suxian District, Chenzhou City. In 1949, it belonged to Yongfeng Township of Chenzhou County; in 1956, Xujia Cave Township was established; in 1958, it was incorporated into the Suburban People's Commune; in 1961, Xujia Cave Commune was separated; and in 1983, it was upgraded to a town. Located in the northeastern part of the urban area, it covers an area of 60.3 square kilometers with a population of 18,000.
