Pinghu Park

Covering an area of 569 mu, Pinghu Park is the largest fitness and cultural square in Hunan Province as well as a free, open sports facility. It is also the largest open fitness and leisure park in downtown Hengyang and the city’s first family planning culture square. The park gets its name “Pinghu” (meaning “Flat Lake”) from the large Shishiyan Reservoir within its grounds.

The construction of Pinghu Park boasts several notable highlights and features: First, it offers comprehensive sports facilities. There are already two basketball courts, badminton courts, volleyball courts, gateball courts, tennis courts, a roller skating rink, and table tennis courts. A football field is also planned. These facilities cover most popular ball sports and meet official competition standards, making them suitable for hosting various ball games of a certain scale. The public fitness equipment includes the most complete range of options available in China, with additional play equipment specially designed for children. Second, it provides distinctive water leisure experiences. Currently, the only cable bridge in Hengyang spans Pinghu Lake, with a total length of 65 meters, a load capacity of 32 tons, and the ability to accommodate 250 adults walking on it simultaneously. The swaying of the cable bridge adds a unique thrill. Facilities such as the Leisurely Tea House, Coffee Boat, leisure bar, waterside corridor, and fishing platforms offer a rich variety of water-based leisure activities. Third, its colorful music fountain is the most famous in the Xiang River region. Costing over 2 million yuan, this music fountain can spray water jets up to 60 meters high, rotating 360 degrees in all directions in sync with music melodies and rhythms. Its scale and quality rank first in the entire province.
