Sandushui Festival and Filial Piety Archway

The Sandushui Festival and Filial Piety Archway is a protected cultural heritage site of Hunan Province.

The Sandushui Archway in Xinning County, Hunan Province, also known as the "Archway of Madam He, Wife of Li Zhaoqian" or the "Sandushui Festival and Filial Piety Archway," is located in Sandushui Village, Yidushui Town, Xinning County, Hunan. It stands along what was once the main post road connecting Xinning to Dong'an. The archway was completed in the winter of the third year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1823).

The Sandushui Archway is an architectural structure in the pavilion style. It is entirely constructed from large ridge stones. Standing about 10 meters tall and roughly 7 meters wide, it features three stacked levels from top to bottom and three parallel gates from left to right. The central gate is 3 meters high and 2.3 meters wide, while the side gates are 2.7 meters high and 1.6 meters wide. Four square stone pillars, each 0.4 meters wide and 7 meters tall, stand firmly on massive stone bases, supporting the entire structure. The design is rigorous and the presence majestic.
