The Former Residence of Cai Jimin

The former residence of Cai Jimin is a protected cultural heritage site of Wuhan City.

The former residence of Cai Jimin is located in Cai Guantian Bay, Cai Guantian Village, Caizha Town, Huangpi District, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

In 2011, the former residence of Cai Jimin was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site.

Cai Jimin (1887–1919), originally named Guozhen, also known by his courtesy names Youxiang and Youxiang, was a native of Huangpi, Hubei (now Huangpi District, Wuhan City). In 1905, he enlisted in the First Banner of the Left Wing of the Hubei Standing Army, and soon after enrolled in the Renzi Class of the Hubei Army Special Primary School. He was later promoted to quartermaster and then platoon leader of the 29th Regiment of the New Army. In 1906, he joined the Rizhi Society and introduced several others to the organization. After the Rizhi Society was disbanded, he organized the Officers’ Research Group within the 29th Regiment. He subsequently joined several revolutionary groups, including the Qunzhi Study Society, the Gongjin Society, and the Literary Society.
